3.2. Diesel engines
THE GENERAL DATA

This subsection describes repair operations which can be executed on the engine established in the car. If repair of already removed engine is made, dismounting operations can be ignored.

The description of engines

Engines of type XUD are engines with турбокомпрессором, with four cylinders, with the top arrangement of a cam-shaft established cross-section, with a transmission on an engine left-hand side.

The head of the block of cylinders from an aluminium alloy has 8 valves on engines of 1.9 litres and 12 valves on engines of 2.1 litres. On engines of 1.9 litres клапанные backlashes are regulated by the adjusting linings placed between pushers and end faces of cores of valves, on engines of 2.1 litres клапанные backlashes are regulated by automatically hydraulic pushers.

The cam-shaft is established on three bearings directly in a head of the block of cylinders on engines of 1.9 litres and on five bearings on separate fixing elements on engines of 2.1 litres. The gear belt puts in action a cam-shaft, the fuel pump of a high pressure and the pump of system of cooling.

Коленвал leans against five radical bearings. Axial люфт коленвала it is regulated by the persistent half rings located from two parties of the bearing №2.

Pistons are selected on weight and have the floating piston fingers fixed by lock rings.

The oil pump is put in action by a chain from an asterisk located on a forward part коленвала. The oil radiator is available on all engines.
The prevention

Engines of 1.9 and 2.1 litres – difficult units with numerous systems and auxiliary units. The motor compartment of the engine is used as much as possible and access to the engine and auxiliary units is extremely limited. In many cases auxiliary units should be removed or moved, and electroconducting, and hoses it is necessary to separate and remove tubes at engine repair.


Repair of the engine established in the car

On the engine of 1.9 litres established in the car, it is possible to perform following works:

 – Removal and installation of a head of the block of cylinders;
 – Replacement of a gear belt;
 – Removal and cam-shaft installation;
 – Removal and installation of the oil pallet;
 – Removal and installation of piston group;
 – Removal and installation of the oil pump;
 – Engine mount replacement;
 – Removal and flywheel installation.

On the engine of 2.1 litres established in the car, it is possible to perform following works:

 – Replacement of a gear belt;
 – Removal and installation of a cam-shaft and hydraulic pushers;
 – Removal and installation of the oil pallet;
 – Removal and installation of the oil pump;
 – Engine mount replacement;
 – Removal and flywheel installation.
The prevention

On engines of 2.1 litres the distance between a head of the block of cylinders and a partition of a motor compartment from the back party of the engine is so limited that it is impossible to remove a head of the block of cylinders from the engine established in the car. This operation is made only on the engine removed from the car.
